"A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." -Tyrion, GOT
Between school and work, I haven't spent a lot of time reading anything other than curriculum, and while I feel that I'm learning a lot, I also feel as if I'm missing something. My mind is ill at ease. So I'm wanting to try to get back into regular book reading. Now, it just so happens that many of the books that are on my "to read" list are all geared toward entrepreneurship, so they will fit right quite nicely in this blog, but there are also several others ranging in genre from fantasy and sci-fi to historical non-fiction.
Being as this blog is partly an exercise in developing writing, I believe I will add book reviews into the topical list. Hopefully this will give me plenty of impetus to keep reading and writing.
I made mention of some content from Show Your Work! by Austin Kleon in a blog post back in March of 2022. The thing is, once I got home from that shift, the book was placed on a shelf, and forgotten about, as I had school work to do. So my immediate goals will be to complete Show Your Work, and get a review published soon, followed by The Tiger by John Valiant (a wonderful Christmas gift from my wife), and Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki (a "gift" I bought myself).
I need to build a lot of discipline this year. Last year when I started this blog, I wanted to write one post a week. Here we are in 2023, and we can all see how that worked out. Never the less, I think I will attempt to discipline myself to write one post a week. I will also endeavor to read and review one book a month. Let's hope that that is doable.
I also didn't finish my review of the various free trading platforms I use. So much was left undone! On the upside, I did finally get the podcast up and running, so we will claim that as a victory.
I'm looking forward to getting back into the swing of things, sharing the things that I'm passionate about with you all, not only personal finance and prehospital medicine, but sharing my entrepreneurial journey as well.
With that being said, let's start 2023 off on the right foot. Off we go!
